SUMMARY:Stumbling Stones: The John Rosenberg Story
DESCRIPTION:Stumbling Stones: The John Rosenberg Story traces the origins of a lifelong fight for justice back to a boyhood shattered in Nazi Germany. Performed by Jeff Sherr\, this solo play follows the spark that formed John Rosenberg’s calling—from surviving state-sponsored hatred to standing with civil-rights workers in Mississippi and coalfield families in Kentucky. As the story crosses continents and generations\, we witness how one person’s earliest memories can become the bedrock of a life in service. At its core runs an intimate story of love and partnership. Ultimately\, Stumbling Stones reveals how our beginnings shape our purpose—and how the origins of one man’s journey can inspire all of us to repair the world\, stone by stone. \nThis performance is free – please reserve your seat at this webpage \nA conversation with John & Jean Rosenberg will take place after the performance.

SUMMARY:Stumbling Stones: The John Rosenberg Story
DESCRIPTION:Purchase tickets here \nJohn Rosenberg survived Nazi Germany as a child and spent the next eight decades fighting for people the law forgot. He challenged voter suppression in Mississippi courthouses during the worst years of Jim Crow. He moved his young family to the Appalachian coalfields and opened a legal-aid office where the powerful had written the rules for generations — and started rewriting them. \n\nWritten and Performed by Jeff Sherr\, Stumbling Stones: The John Rosenberg Story moves through time — from pre-war Germany to the organizing circles of Fannie Lou Hamer to a Kentucky hollow where land rights and dignity were the same fight. While John argued cases\, Jean Rosenberg saw what was missing and built it: childbirth education and direct support for single mothers in a region where neither existed. Together\, they didn’t just serve the community — they helped forge it. \n\nJohn Rosenberg is 94 years old and still doing the work. At a moment when voting rights are again contested and the question of who deserves protection under the law is being re-litigated in real time\, his story is not history — it is instruction. STUMBLING STONES is a story of hope. Not the easy kind\, but the kind built stone by stone by ordinary people who decide the world can be repaired — and then get to work. \n50% of ticket sales will be donated to the Appalachian Research and Defense Fund founded by John Rosenberg. \nPurchase tickets here
