Jeff Sherr
Jeff Sherr has spent over 30 years training public defenders across the country—not just in how to argue a case, but in how to carry dignity, empathy, and humanity into courtrooms. From his early days as a law clerk and trainer in Kentucky’s Department of Public Advocacy to a national role with the National Association for Public Defense, he quietly shaped how defenders learn to connect, listen, and tell stories that matter.
At the same time, Jeff has kept one foot firmly rooted in the theater world. A University of Kansas drama graduate and alumnus of the National Shakespeare Conservatory, he’s performed in roles that range from Prospero to Tom Joad, and kept improv alive every week with Central Kentucky Improv. Those performance muscles—listening, responding, risking—are the same muscles he taps when guiding lawyers, teaching them how to bring presence and clarity to advocacy.
Jeff brings these two worlds together. Whether he’s designing a webinar to help attorneys tell more truthful stories—or stepping onto a nearly bare stage to perform Stumbling Stones—he strives to create moments that change perspectives. It’s about crafting spaces where people feel seen, where justice and belonging come alive through narrative.
Bringing John Rosenberg’s story to life is a deep honor—a chance to pass on to another generation what it means to live a life that matters, to stand for justice, and to help repair a world that’s still broken.
